Let me cut to the chase with this one… THIS PRODUCT IS AMAZING! I literally didn’t know how to start this kritique because I just wanted to start raving about this product from the get-go. But, before I go completely fan-girl over this stuff, let’s talk about what an essence is.
I had never heard of an essence before Eminence launched this glorious product. It was described to me as something I could use instead of my toner, or use in conjunction with my toner (after cleanser and toner application.) It is an essential step to help subsequent products better absorb into the skin, as well as retain the substance of those products better.

Not only does it feel like silk going onto my skin, but I was surprised at how much I enjoyed applying it. I always enjoyed giving myself a refreshing spritz of my toner, so I felt mildly put off by applying this with my hands or a cotton pad. (I’m using this in place of a toner.) I was completely wrong in my feeling that way. There’s something so satisfying about shaking a little into my hand, warming it up by rubbing my hands together, followed by applying all over my face and neck. I just love the texture. I bet you’re surprised to even hear liquid being described as having a texture! It’s so smooth, you have to feel it for yourself!
I’ve found it’s really boosted hydrating in my skin, even an oily skin would benefit from this product as it doesn’t leave any sort of residue on your skin. It completely absorbs and leaves behind a perfectly fresh canvas.
Since adding it to my Eminence lineup about four months ago, I’ve noticed I don’t break out nearly as often as I used to (I’d say about 80% less!) I have better tone, and more firm looking skin. I attribute this a lot to the Snow Mushroom, which is an ultra-hydrating antioxidant which enhances elasticity, and improves skin barrier function. (See the Pure Forest Collection for more of my absolute faves that include this wonder-ingredient!) I must also add, that my bottle is not even half empty! You don’t need a lot of this product. A little bit goes a long way.
The only thing I don’t recommend is applying it to a cotton pad to apply. I find this wastes a lot of product which is why I like to apply it with my hands. Just be sure to always wash your hands prior to cleansing your face so you have a nice clean applicator to apply your essence with.
A liquid with a texture! Who would have thought?!
So run, don’t walk, to get yourself a bottle of this. You absolutely won’t regret it. There is nothing I don’t like about this product.
